THE WEATHER THAT WE WATCH

In this project we share information about the weather in the areas where we live. We make some weather charts / maps of our territories. Students are encouraged to watch the weather , to get information of it in the papers ( forecasts) and to use some instruments to measure it (thermometer , barometer, hygrometer , anemometer, pluviometer… ) . They write down the results in some charts/maps to share them every period of time . They interchange photos/drawings and descriptions too . Different digital tools are used to share these works.

Countries/towns

We interhanged  some presentations about our territories and towns  .
                                            Lanusei. Sardinia .Italy

Hi everyone! Carla Dei and I have written that introduction of your town. I hope you enjoy it!

Lanusei (Lanusè in Sardinian Language, the historical language of Sardinia) lies on the east coast of the island of Sardinia (the second largest island in the Mediterranean, in the center of Western Mediterranean basin) on a slope that leads from atop the plateau of Selèni (1000 m. a.s.l.) to the hills covered by olive trees that descend to the Thyrrenian sea.

The altitude of the town goes from 550 to 740 m. a.s.l..

Actually the sea is only 12 Km away, so when we open our windows the blue light of the water enlightens our days as if we had lived much closer to the sea!

Because its altitude and the near sea, Lanusei has a mild and dry weather in the summer with cool nights, and in the winter it sometimes snows , but not very often.

As for all Sardinians territories, the dominant winds are from north-west, but because the largest massif in the middle of the island (Gennargentu) is just behind us, we are quite covered from it. When it rains on the west side of our island (the other side), we sometimes have the “Fhon” phenomenon, with dry air descendent from the highest mountain (Gennargentu, 1834 m. a.s.l.) . The wind that brings us precipitation is the east (north or south), from the sea of course.

Our town is known as a place with good weather. In the past centuries many people came here to enjoy the fresh waters from the springs and the dry and fresh air in the summer.
